Art Market | Elyse
Connolly Elyse Connolly Photography Representative,
New York City Juror
for two categories:
BEAUTY/FASHION and EDITORIAL/JOURNALISM,
for PROfessional and Non-Professional work
Elyse
Connolly’s unlikely path in photography began as a model-booking agent at
Zoli. Though she would soon be managing the Men’s Division for that agency,
it was her work editing model and photographer portfolios that convinced her to
leave Zoli after six years and begin a new career as a photographer's agent. In
1980 she began representing Rudy Molacek, whose work for GQ and Vogue helped forge
relationships that last to this day. Elyse then took on Susan
Schacter, who soon became known for her celebrity portraits and work with
Calvin Klein.
Connolly's
business has changed and grown quite dramatically since then, though the aim of
providing art directors, creative directors and account reps with the best possible
way to cultivate an image, nurture a concept, or promote a vision has not. Elyse
Connolly Inc. now represents Peggy Sirota,
Melanie Acevedo, David Prince, John
Huba, Francesco Lagnesse, and Jim Cooper. All of these artists have left their
marks on the fashion, lifestyle, celebrity, and still life categories, often producing
iconic images for campaigns including The Gap, Banana Republic, Volvo, American
Express, T-Mobile, Got Milk, and Cover Girl as well as memorable portraits for
GQ, More Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire. These images are often copied,
but rarely duplicated.
For much of the past 30 years Elyse has been sharing
her insights with industry peers while providing sound advice and good counsel
to those new to the business. Though anyone can take a picture, Elyse has helped
a generation of industry professionals understand the importance of taking a great
photograph.
