Betty Press is best known for her award winning images taken in Africa where she lived and worked for many years as a photojournalist. Since returning to the USA in 1995 she has been teaching art photography at the university level. She continues to travel to Cuba, Central America, and Africa as well photographing her local community Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Her latest project which combines African proverbs with her images has been exhibited nationally and will eventually be published as a book to promote a greater appreciation of African wisdom and culture. Her photographs are in many public and private collections.
