Photography is a way of exploring myself and my world. While the visual elements of my work may change over time, there is a common set of interests at the core of each series. The interaction between humans and nature, the exploration of issues related to beauty, photographic experimentation, the use of vintage cameras and lenses and most importantly my desire to evoke a response from the viewer are always central elements in each body of work. I have been deeply influenced by the imagery of Josef Sudek, Robert Frank and Sarah Moon in that each combines an openness towards technique with an ability to emotionally transport the viewer. I started my photographic career as a studio food and still life photographer and am now an Associate Professor of Art at Long Beach City College.
