DIANE ROTER

Diane Roter is a writer, actor, director, poet and photographer.
She is a certified teaching artist, and a writing and performance coach.

She won the Bronze Wrangler award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in 1966 for her acting as "Jennifer" --the lone regular female character among regular male characters, in the fourth season of the long running TV western The Virginian. She has also played such diverse roles as TV Indians on Laredo and Hondo, a French Partisan on Rat Patrol, and a New York hippie on Family Affair. After playing Drusilla, the teen-aged Egyptian prostitute, in George Cukor's last film, the 1970 production of Lawrence Durrell's "Justine," she moved to Paris to study mime with Marcel Marceau.

As Danielle Roter she was a staff theater critic and arts writer for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, and has written for the LA Times Book Review, the San Jose Mercury News, The LA Daily News and LA Weekly.

As Duncan Wilde, she has published essays, reviews and interviews for the LA Free Press, Los Angeles Times, and the Advocate.
As Dani Roter, she has read her poetry at various venues.

She has directed several readings for Yale Cabaret Hollywood, an informal theatre company of Yale School of Drama alumni, and recently co-adapted, directed and performed in a new version of Mark Twain's only play, "Ah Sin" presented by Yale Cabaret Hollywood at the Los Angeles Heritage Museum.
